Easy Pear Cobbler

3 tbsp. butter, melted
6 very ripe Bartlet or Anjou pears, peeled, cored, and halved lengthwise
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup brandy
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. grated lemon rind

Drizzle the bottom of a 13 x 9 glass baking dish with 1½ tbsp. butter. Arrange
pear halves in 3 rows, cut sides down, over the butter. Combine flour, 1/2 cup
sugar, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. Add 1½ tbsp. butter,
milk, and brandy, and stir until well-blended. Spoon the batter around the
pear halves. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, and lemon rind; sprinkle
over pear halves. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
